Tomorrowland 2025: Major Fire Destroys Main Stage – Festival Continues with New Concept

A massive fire destroyed the Tomorrowland 2025 main stage in Boom, Belgium just days before the festival. Organizers responded swiftly with a new stage concept, ensuring the event continues as planned.

Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, was founded in 2005 and has since become one of the world’s most renowned EDM events. On the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2025, a massive fire broke out on the elaborately designed main stage (“Orbyz Stage”). The flames almost completely destroyed the stage. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, which occurred just a few hours before the festival was set to begin. That same night, organizers announced that the festival would proceed as planned and the gates would open on Friday at 2:00 PM.

Festival Start and Lineup

On Friday, July 18, Tomorrowland opened its gates at 2:00 PM as scheduled. At that time, the first sets on all remaining stages – such as at the DreamVille campsite – began promptly. A newly built main stage was put into operation at 4:00 PM, allowing all announced acts to perform as planned. In an official statement, the festival organizers confidently declared: Tomorrowland will “unite stronger than ever.”

More Intimate Stage Concept

Spokesperson Debby Wilmsen described the replacement stage as a “new, more intimate concept.” It features numerous visual effects designed to bring the artists closer to the audience. Unlike the previous stage, this one will not use fireworks. The organizers emphasized that this decision was made to avoid any safety risks. The temporary stage will also be used during the second festival weekend (July 25–27), ensuring that Tomorrowland’s 20th anniversary celebration can go ahead as planned across all stages. Top acts for the first weekend still include global stars such as Martin Garrix and David Guetta, who will now perform on the new main stage.

Overall, the organization is sending a strong message with this feat: even after a serious setback, the festival will carry on undeterred and keep the community united – true to the motto: “Tomorrowland will unite stronger than ever.”
